New Year’s Contentment (and Save the Date!)

New Year’s resolutions are fun… and I won’t deny I’ve made a few.

But I purposely made the list a little shorter this year than I have in previous years. How about you, friend? Are you working on some serious goals this year, or are you leaving extra margin for who-knows-what-may-come-up, or a little bit of both?

In praying about a new year, I felt the need to leave LOTS of margin for relationships. Partly because I know relationships are how we grow, and partly because relationships in my house involve homeschooling and an infant who still needs us to meet every need.

Maybe a shorter New Year’s Resolutions list also signals a desire for contentment. Contentment meaning: some of our circumstances may stay the way they are. And maybe that’s ok sometimes.

One area where we can always grow (and where it’s a delight to do so) is in our reading life. My TBR stack is a little shorter this year (just trying to be realistic) so I made sure every read is thought-provoking and meaningful.

For some of those TBR’s, I’ll be hosting book clubs via zoom. I know a few of you were interested in this next one, so I wanted to update you:

This month, we are reading When The Morning Glory Blooms by Cynthia Ruchti. Ms Ruchti is a well-known Christian author and speaker. She has written many nonfiction works on marriage and matters of faith, as well as novels. When the Morning Glory Blooms is my favorite work of hers so far. It is an inspiring story about all things motherhood – I promise it’ll leave you thinking long after you’ve turned the last page.

BONUS: Cynthia will be zooming in to our meeting! I know many of you will not want to miss meeting her. If you’re receiving this email, you’re already on my list, so no need to sign up again. But do write down the date:

January 25th, at 6pm MDT (that’s 5pm for my Pacific Coast friends).

Morning of, I will send you a zoom invite link. Excited to see you then!

Love in Christ,

Laura
