She Was Somebody’s Daughter

I’m honored and blessed to be sharing over at Mamalode today.  Mamalode publishes thought-provoking, heartfelt articles that offer hope for our mothering journey.  The story I’m sharing today is a story that took me almost five years to write, because for a long time, the recollection of it only brought pain.  It’s a story from my ER nursing days, a story of a young girl who left us too soon.  But now her message has the power to encourage another, and possibly even to save a life.  Warning: This is a GRAPHIC POST that may not be suitable for all readers.  Potential triggers: eating disorders, pediatric mortality, postmortem care.

You can read the story here:

With many thanks to the team at Mamalode, for choosing to publish this story, raw as it is, and to the encouragers and cheerleaders who helped this writer along.
