Now is the Time to Create {Adorning the Dark Giveaway!}
I was excited to receive my copy of “Adorning the Dark” by Andrew Peterson. But I have to be honest: at first my thoughts went something like, A book about making art? Now? Shouldn’t I be reading a book about loving my neighbor; or read up on the history of plagues and politics; or maybe an apocalyptic novel?
But in reading it, I found that it was the just-right (as my five year-old would put it) book for right now. (Isn’t it funny how God can give us what we need when we don’t even know what to ask for?) Andrew Peterson does more in this book than explain his creative process and how he “made it” in music and writing; he does more than encourage his reader to never give up.
This book is about making heaven out of my little corner of the earth. About raising up people and places to point to their Creator. It’s about taking what we’ve been given and making something beautiful.
As I put it down to prepare to share it with you, I’m encouraged to keep on making art to please the greatest Artist; especially on the hard days. An open heart is one way God can share the healing we so desperately need right now, and an open heart can’t help but create.
However you make art, whether it’s decorating, cooking, painting, writing, singing, dancing… don’t stop. Use your art to love your family, your neighbor, your friends. Use your art to thank the One who gave you all.
